The Natural Selection Chapter

Natural Selection is the most legendary starship of humanity's space fleet, and Zhang Beihai is the soul of this vessel.

The Mission of Natural Selection: Natural Selection was one of the stellar-class battleships built by humanity to fight Trisolaris, equipped with the latest fusion engines. But its true purpose, until Zhang Beihai hijacked it, was known to no one.

The Prelude to Hijacking: Zhang Beihai spent two centuries carefully laying his plans. He cultivated an image of a "firm victorist" within the space force while being in reality an acutely清醒 defeatist. He deeply understood humanity's absolute technological inferiority—the only way out was to flee.

"Natural Selection, Full Speed Ahead!": On the eve of the Doomsday Battle, Zhang Beihai hijacked Natural Selection and ordered full acceleration (Forward Four). This decision made Natural Selection one of the few ships to escape the droplet attack.

The Dark Battle: After the hijacking, Natural Selection and four pursuing ships formed the last survivors of humanity's space fleet. But in the resource-starved cosmos, Zhang Beihai ultimately had to make the most painful decision—to attack the pursuing Ultimate Law. His hesitation a moment before firing allowed another ship's captain to pull the trigger first.

The Continuation of Embers: Zhang Beihai's death was deeply tragic, but the ship he saved for humanity—and the starship civilization it spawned—allowed human civilization to continue after the solar system's destruction. Natural Selection was not just a warship; it was humanity's ticket to a cosmic Noah's Ark.
