This is one of the most enduring topics in the Three-Body community. Luo Ji could hold it steady; Cheng Xin couldn't press it. What about you?

Cheng Xin didn't press the button because she "loved" — she couldn't end a civilization with her own hands. But Liu Cixin seems to tell us: on a cosmic scale, love is a luxury.

Luo Ji would press the button because he was "rational" — he knew if deterrence collapsed, humanity would face a worse fate. But he paid for it with 40 years of solitude.
