Starting Today, We Are Comrades

In Albania, there is an engineer.

It's a small country — fewer than three million souls, wrapped in mountains. When night falls, even the wind goes quiet.

On his desk sits a Chinese novel. The cover is worn, the corners frayed from being read and re-read.

It is "The Three-Body Problem."

In this country, sci-fi readers are rare. Readers of Chinese science fiction? Nearly zero. And he was not just a fan. He was obsessed.

No one around him understood.

"China? Science fiction?"

His colleagues found him strange. His friends thought him odd. He tried to explain once, but the words died in his throat. The Dark Forest? The Sophon? The Dual Vector Foil? There weren't even Albanian words for these concepts.

He couldn't explain. No one wanted to listen.

So he stopped talking about it. He just held onto that book, reading it over and over, etching the sentences into his mind.

But deep down, he knew: In this country, he was a freak.

---

Late at night, he would sit by his window and look at the Albanian sky. The mountains have no light pollution, so the galaxy unfolds in plain view.

He stared at those stars and thought of Ye Wenjie.

The woman at Red Coast Base, looking up at the same sky.

She was a freak too. When she was sent to that desolate radar peak, no one understood why she wanted to send signals into the universe. She called into the silent void for eight years.

No one answered.

He had been calling into the same void for a long time, too.

---

And then, one day, he received a reply.

Not from the Trisolaran world. From our Red Coast Base.

He stumbled upon this website. He clicked in. On the forum, people from all over the world were discussing, in a dozen languages, the very questions he had buried inside for so long:

"What would you really do if the Dark Forest theory were true?"

"If you were the Trisolaran leader, what would be your next move?"

"Was Ye Wenjie right or wrong?"

Every single one — questions he had asked himself a thousand times.

He stared at the screen. His hands began to tremble.

Then he registered. He logged in. He typed his first words.

---

And somewhere on Earth, a light came on.

He was in Albania, deep in the night, talking to people in other time zones.

A few hours later, New York woke up and joined the conversation.

A few hours after that, London woke up and brought a European perspective.

Then Brazil woke up, adding a voice from the Southern Hemisphere in Portuguese.

Then Japan, then Germany, then Australia…

In this community, the sun never sets.

No matter where you are in the world, no matter what time zone you live in — whenever you open this website, someone is there. New York's midnight is Beijing's morning. London's afternoon is Tokyo's evening. Three-Body fans pass the torch of discussion around the globe, hour after hour, like a relay race that never ends.

For the first time, he realized: there are millions of people like him, scattered across the planet.

He sent a message in the group chat at 3 AM, his local time. Three seconds later, someone in New York replied. A minute later, someone in Beijing was awake. Two hours later, São Paulo chimed in.

24 hours a day, the conversation never stops.

The thoughts he thought no one would ever understand — it turned out he was never alone in thinking them.

He was no longer shouting into the dark.

He was no longer a freak.

---

He told us later that the day he found Red Coast Base, he remembered a feeling from childhood.

Winter in Albania was brutally cold. When he walked home from school, he would look for the lit window of his house. That light meant one thing:

Someone was waiting for him.

When Ye Wenjie put on those headphones after eight years and heard a voice from the stars for the first time — she must have felt the same way.

Someone answered.

We are not alone.

In the darkness, there is always a light that was left on for you.

---

So if you've ever sat alone in the night, holding "The Three-Body Problem," feeling like no one in the world could understand you —

Starting today, we are comrades.

You thought you were a freak. You're not. You just hadn't found your world yet.

Now you have. We have always been here.

When you're awake and no one else is. When you can't sleep and need to talk about the Dark Forest.

On the other side of the world, someone is always awake for you.
