3. John Grant

Captain of Natural Selection. First to order "retreat" during the Doomsday Battle. His decisiveness ("Full speed ahead!") made Natural Selection the seed of human civilization in space.

4. Say (PDC Chair)

The Planetary Defense Council chair who brought Luo Ji into the Wallfacer Project. She saw Luo Ji's potential when everyone else was laughing at him.

5. Alan Miller

QY member from Book 1, tracked by Shi Qiang. Represents the real face of QY — not crazy terrorists, but ordinary people drawn by the ideal of a "better world."
