Physicists Are Creating 'Mini Black Holes' in Labs — Humanity Doesn't Need Trisolaris to Destroy Itself

Recent data from CERN and top-tier laboratories has revealed "anomalous signals that cannot be explained by the Standard Model." While it's not yet "new physics," physicists are beginning a serious conversation: are we creating microscopic quantum black holes in our labs?

This sounds like something ripped straight from *The Three-Body Problem* — the Sophon sabotaging particle accelerators, locking humanity's fundamental science forever. But reality offers a more ironic twist: humanity doesn't need the Sophon to lock itself down. We're doing it ourselves.

The Real-World "Sophon Trap"

In the trilogy, the Sophon blocks humanity's science by interfering with accelerator experiments — an external ceiling on scientific exploration.

In reality, we face an internal ceiling:

- Energy limits: Each order of magnitude increase in collision energy costs exponentially more

- Theoretical blind spots: The Standard Model's explanatory power is tapped out

- Unpredictable outcomes: Nobody can guarantee that higher-energy collisions won't produce unexpected consequences — stable micro black holes, or a seed of vacuum decay

Liu Cixin's fiction asks "what if others stop you from researching?" Reality asks: "what if you're afraid to research yourself?"

Vacuum Decay: The Real Dual-Vector Foil

In *Death's End*, the dual-vector foil flattens the Solar System from 3D to 2D. Real physics has an even more terrifying analog — vacuum decay.

Our vacuum might not be "true vacuum" — it could be in a "metastable state." A collision experiment with enough energy density could trigger the decay to true ground state. The consequence? A true-vacuum bubble expanding at light speed, rewriting physics as it goes.

This isn't science fiction. This is discussed in serious physics journals.

What This Means for Three-Body Fans

"Don't answer" in the real world becomes "don't smash too hard."

Ye Wenjie pressed the transmit button without knowing what she was summoning. We build colliders without knowing what we're creating. The difference between these two forms of ignorance: Ye Wenjie's adversary was the dark forest. Ours is the laws of physics themselves.

And physics — unlike the Trisolarans — doesn't negotiate. It doesn't play games. It just executes.
