Three-Body Is Not a Sci-Fi Series — It Is a 900,000-Word Philosophy Experiment

Let me make a controversial claim: Three-Body is not primarily a science fiction series. It is a philosophy book wearing a sci-fi costume. This is not my original take — it comes from a widely-read Chinese book review that argues the trilogy's true genius is philosophical, not technological.
Liu Cixin starts with a single question: What would humanity do if aliens came? He treats it as a philosophical exercise — every step must be logically rigorous. Book I: Who are they? Book II: The wolf is coming — what do we do? Book III: The wolf is here — now what?
Each volume is a controlled experiment. Liu puts humanity into a giant moral laboratory and changes the variables.
The Dark Forest theory is a logically derived philosophical system — axioms leading to an inescapable conclusion about cosmic sociology. The question isn't 'is this scary?' — it's 'is this true, given the axioms?'
Luo Ji's arc mirrors every prophet in history: elevated, ignored, worshipped, abandoned, forgotten. When he discovers the only viable deterrence strategy, humanity worships him. When he fails to solve their new crisis, they discard him without thanks.
The most disturbing insight: Nature doesn't care about your morality. A civilization can go extinct just like any species. Why should humanity be immune?
That is why Three-Body will still be read 100 years from now — not because of the science, but because of the questions it forces us to ask.
